Abderrahim Mahfoudi is Head of Business Development & Alliance Management for Jameel Health, part of Abdul Latif Jameel, a collective of independent international, family-owned and diversified businesses, founded in 1945 by the late Abdul Latif Jameel.
With broad experience in the pharmaceutical and biotech industry, holding positions at Rhône-Poulenc Rorer (now Sanofi) including lead for gene therapy development and a number of research and development projects. He has also held business development positions in several biotechnology, technology transfer and CRO companies, including Sanofi, combining portfolio management, business development and strategic alliances management. Abderrahim was operations director for Sanofi’s Translational Science Unit.
Prior to joining Jameel Health, Abderrahim has been the Director, External Science Innovation, Pierre Fabre Pharmaceuticals’ Corporate Business Development and Licensing, where he has overseen the identification and evaluation of in-licensing and out-licensing opportunities as well as strategic research and development partnerships.
Mr. Mahfoudi holds a PhD in biochemistry, cellular and molecular biology, from University of Franche Comté, Besançon, France following which, he successively held the position of Associate Professor at the Institute of Animal Biology at the University of Lausanne and then a research position at the Pasteur Institute in Lille before starting his career in the pharmaceutical industry.
